Meet Mrs. Wenstrom

My name is Julie Wenstrom. I have been teaching in Pecatonica for 25 years. For the last 14 years I have been a 2nd/3rd grade looping teacher. Prior to that I taught second grade. I have also taught a 3rd/4th grade loop. I absolutely love teaching, and am so blessed to be able to "keep" my kids for two years! I graduated from Millikin University with my Bachelor of Arts in Education, and National Louis University with my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.

When I'm not at school, I'm usually at home in Durand. I share my home with my husband, Scott, and our three black labs, Chloe, Ivy, and Addi. We have two sons who live at home "part time". Our older son, Trevor, graduated from Aurora University, where he majored in Athletic Training. He currently attends Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA where he is completing his doctorate of Chiropractic.  Trevor is also an Athletic Trainer for the Palmer Rugby team. Hunter, our younger son, is a junior at Millikin University in Decatur, IL.  He is majoring in Graphic Design/Computer Art with an emphasis in photography, and minoring in Entrepreneurship. Hunter also plays baseball for the Big Blue.

That being said, I guess I'm not really at home in Durand much! My husband and I enjoy traveling to Davenport and Decatur to visit our boys. We also travel a lot in the spring and summer to watch Hunter play baseball. When we are not watching Hunter play ball, we enjoy watching the Chicago Cubs. As a lifelong Cubs fan, there is nothing better than an afternoon of baseball at Wrigley Field. Go Cubs Go!!
